Kentia Palm, scientific name Howea Forsteriana is toughest palm tree which is used for indoor greenery. it is named after the city of Lord Howe Island called Kentia. The leaves of this palm tree are deep dark green. This tree has been used as indoor plant since Victorian age. This palm plant is native to Australia and is available in abundance in Lord Howe Island, which is situated in the east of Australia.
The seeds of this palm plant are imported from Lord Howe Island and planted in Hawaii and California. This plant is very good in plantations in the containers and in the pots.
These plants need little sunlight for their growth. The indirect sunlight is very good for their growth. You can put the pot containing this tree in the room of your house where sunlight comes indirectly. The heat and light which reaches to these plants indirectly is enough for their proper growth. But make sure you provide these plants good indirect light because little light will not make these plants grow properly, and plants will have fewer fronds than the usual.
These plants can grow even taller in the small pots. When you water the plant make deep observation that the roots are watered properly. Then make sure that roots are not wet and moistened; this can cause the root breakage. You can also check that if you have watered this plant excessively. If this is so you can see that tips of yellow fronds will turn into the brown color. And if the plant is not watered well then the fronds will not remain erect.
This palm has the pinnate leaves which look like feathers. The length of these leaves is about 12 feet. There are no spines and thrones on the leaves. The height of the tree is about 15 to 30 feet. The rings are available on the trunk of this palm. The trunk is thick at the base.

The Kentia palm tree also bears a fruit which has dull red color. The shape of the fruit is same as that of egg. The fruits of this tree mature at the slower rate. It takes them 3 to 4 years to mature fully. The fruit changes colors from dull orange to dull yellow.
Kentia Palm tree can go with different types of soil i.e. whether they are acidic or neutral etc. The propagation of Kentia Palm is done through the seeds. The germination of seeds has been improved by giving them heat and fungicide treatments.
